في إحدى حلقاتها التلفزيونية أستاذتي الدكتورة منى إلياس
قدَّمَت حلقة عنّي؛ وقالت إنّ اسم زعل معناه الرّجل ذو المروءة.
🌹المروءة🌹
رأتِ المُرُوءَةَ من خصالِ وفائي
لقد استحقَّت مدحتي وثنائي
في عالم الإبداعِ ينبضُ خافقي
يشدو بإخلاصٍ، يفي بصفاءِ
أشدو بألحانِ المروءةِ واثقاً
والقلبُ يَشدو نغمةَ الشُّرفاءِ
وَبحورُ شِعري بالمروءةِ قد سمت
عَزَفَت على وترِ الوفاءِ غِنائي
نَبَضَت حروفي بالمروءةِ تَزدَهي
فَسَقَت زهورَ مروءتي بِسَخاءِ
هذي منى إلياسِ قد شهدَت لنا
أنّ المُسمّى ليسَ عبسَ شقاءِ
زعلٌ وفيه من المروءةِ جذوةٌ
وتوقّدَت في عزّةٍ وإباءِ
هذي منى إلياسِ فينا مَعلمٌ
يزهو الزَّمانُ بمنتدى الأرجاءِ
هي قدوةُ الأدبِ الرَّفيعِ وشعلةٌ
وضَّاءَةٌ بتفاخرِ الآباءِ
فلتنهلِ الأجيالُ علمَ صدارةٍ
بصروحنا وتسابقِ الأبناءِ
تلكَ الرَّؤومُ لها علينا واجبٌ
أكرمها يا ربّي بخيرِ عطاءِ
وارحمها يا ربّي بواسعِ رحمةٍ
أدعوكَ ربّي لا تردَّ رجائي
كانَت مشيئةُ ربِّنا لم نعترضْ
سلَّمتُ أمري مؤمناً بِقَضاءِ
إنَّ الذين عثَوا فساداً في الورى
ماتوا جميعاً دونَ أيِّ عزاءِ
لم يدرِ فيهم أيُّ شخصٍ إذ قضَوا
غرباءَ ماتُوا في دجى الظلماءِ
ماتوا جميعاً والجحيمُ تسعّرَت
فهمُ أرادوا أن يزيدَ عنائي
أصبحتُ ربّانَ القوافي كلِّها
متفنّناً من ألْفها للياءِ
وعلى البحورِ نظمتُها موزونةً
شيخَ البلاغةِ صرتُ دون مِراءِ
حلّقتُ في علم البلاغةِ للعُلا
وسموتُ حتّى ذروةِ الجوزاءِ
قد نلتُ في كلّ الأماكنِ شهرةً
شهدَ الأنامُ بفطنتي وذكائي

In one of her TV episodes, my professor Dr. Mona Elias presented an episode about me; she said that the name "Zaal" means a man of honor.

She saw honor as one of my qualities of loyalty
Deserving my praise and admiration
In the world of creativity, my heart beats
Singing with sincerity, fulfilling with purity
I sing with the melodies of honor confidently
And my heart sings the tune of the noble
The verses of my poetry have been adorned with honor
Playing the strings of loyalty in my song
My words pulsate with honor, shining
Spreading the flowers of my honor generously
This is Mona Elias testifying for us
That the name "Zaal" is not a name of misery
Honor, in it, sparks a flame
Igniting in pride and defiance
This is Mona Elias, a teacher among us
The world takes pride in her presence
She is the epitome of high literature, a torch
Shining with the pride of our ancestors
Let the generations draw knowledge from our leadership
In our achievements and the competition of our children
This responsibility is upon us
May God bless her with abundant goodness
And have mercy on her with His vast mercy
I pray to you, my Lord, do not reject my plea
It was the will of our Lord, we did not object
I surrendered my affairs, believing in destiny
Indeed, those who spread corruption in the world
They all died without any consolation
No one cared when they passed away
Strangers died in the darkness of night
They all died and hellfire blazed
They wanted to increase my hardship
I became the master of all rhymes
Crafting from A to Z
And on the meters, I composed them harmoniously
I became a master of eloquence without dispute
I soared in the science of rhetoric
And I reached the peak of excellence
I have gained fame in all places
People witnessed my intelligence and cleverness
